Waihi Drama presents
That Bloody Woman

More than 140 years ago, a bold team of smart and determined women took their fury and frustration at the denial of equality, and started a fight that would last more than a decade…..

Now, with a score to match the fury, That Bloody Woman brings the Suffragette Movement roaring into the 21st century with wit, savvy and rock.

Faced with opposition from NZ’s most powerful man, Premier Richard “King Dick” Seddon, Kate’s story is told, LOUDLY with an ensemble full of fun & cheek and woven with personal journeys. The dismissals, condescension and mockery begin to wane as secrets from New Zealand’s past start to spill, and King Dick’s grip starts to slip, leading to a history making decision that soon echoed around the world.

THAT BLOODY WOMAN by Gregory Cooper and Luke Di Somma is directed by Bianca Till and runs from October 17th to 26th, 2024, with a 4pm matinee on the 20th.

 PERFORMANCES:

  • Thursday 17th October 7pm
  • Friday 18th October 7pm
  • Saturday 19th October 7pm
  • Sunday 20th October 4pm (matinee )
  • Thursday 24th October 7pm
  • Friday 25th October 7pm

Wet Plate Portrait Sessions
Thames Museum

For those of you interested in vintage photographic techniques, I will be holding wet plate portrait sessions at the Thames Museum in celebration of "History Alive Day"
Using equipment and techniques developed during the 1850’s, plates of glass or aluminium are individually coated and sensitised before being exposed and developed while wet. Once fixed, washed and dried they are then coated in a gum sandarac varnish that preserves and protects them for generations.
The finished plates will be posted to clients once varnished & cured, a week or so after their session.
Sessions last 45 minutes and are limited to 2 people per plate

Hauraki 50FIVE Trail Trilogy
Sunday October 20th

TRAIL TRILOGY 2024 - Sunday 20th October
HAURAKI 50FIVE (55 km Intro Ultra) Thames to Waihi
HAURAKI 50FIVE COURSE
You‘ll start by weaving your way through the coastal and urban trails of Thames, then leave the ‘big city’ behind and head into the countryside on the Hauraki Rail Trail as you make your way to Paeroa. Then you'll enter the most scenic section of the course as it runs alongside the Ohinemuri River, crossing bridges and passing through a 1 km-long train tunnel in the spectacular Karangahake Gorge. You’ll soon arrive at the Victoria Battery in Waikino then just follow the beautiful river-side trail all the way to the finish line at Waihi Station.
SOLO RUNNERS
Are you looking to do your first Ultra-Marathon? Race from Thames’ Grahamstown Station to Waihi Station on this fast and flat course. It's 100% off-road and offers a great opportunity to test yourself over an ultra distance, without hills, cars and tarmac.
TEAMS RELAY
A brilliant relay event for teams — grab some running mates, club mates, school mates or workmates and see if you can run 55 km from Thames to Waihi. Challenge your corporate or club rivals to the ultimate workplace team-building experience.
The experience of encouraging your team-mates to reach your final destination will be something you will all learn from and cherish.
